My latest two collages have found lovely forever homes.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cH30SUFh0-Y/YRmGlPvN8zI/AAAAAAAAYSM/yYjNdRK552shJRz8SV1R-d27GJaznrKIACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/inCollage_20210814_185228316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1372" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cH30SUFh0-Y/YRmGlPvN8zI/AAAAAAAAYSM/yYjNdRK552shJRz8SV1R-d27GJaznrKIACLcBGAsYHQ/w268-h400/inCollage_20210814_185228316.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>I've also some exciting new gallery news. I've developed my mosaic bird collection and included lots of new designs. I've begun the week finishing off a new seabird collection including a new Gannet design.</p><p><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9u271OvuYhI/YQBDezoKJLI/AAAAAAAAX10/EyMyjo9yRf88J4ssRVcNmcaAs7Xz5BBNwCPcBGAsYHg/s3264/20210725_144833.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9u271OvuYhI/YQBDezoKJLI/AAAAAAAAX10/EyMyjo9yRf88J4ssRVcNmcaAs7Xz5BBNwCPcBGAsYHg/s320/20210725_144833.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">On the workbench this week</td></tr></tbody></table><p><br /><br /></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k6sqsvNDtF4/YQBEI9dJ9cI/AAAAAAAAX18/_IUvJBTmvmcnchBtQYQDz6xubalLc870wCPcBGAsYHg/s3264/20210726_155550.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="290" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k6sqsvNDtF4/YQBEI9dJ9cI/AAAAAAAAX18/_IUvJBTmvmcnchBtQYQDz6xubalLc870wCPcBGAsYHg/w227-h290/20210726_155550.jpg" width="227" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">New Gannet design</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><p>I've also just completed two new collections for the velvet easel in Portobello near Edinburgh, The Whitehouse gallery in Kircudbright, and the Studio vault in Settle where my work forms part of the 'Beneath the trees exhibition'.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BfYmFKsWgV4/YQBGFOZukZI/AAAAAAAAX2Y/Y_gCpTnL85YYzMppFYKg-_lbog0GQj0kgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1920/inCollage_20210721_221833201.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1920" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BfYmFKsWgV4/YQBGFOZukZI/AAAAAAAAX2Y/Y_gCpTnL85YYzMppFYKg-_lbog0GQj0kgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/inCollage_20210721_221833201.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Collection now in the velvet easel</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7nUXZSxBBSI/YQBF1P6sRqI/AAAAAAAAX2Q/ZE5jL9sXNq0K2s8uhbb298g1hEY51CftQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1920/inCollage_20210722_124801961.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1920" data-original-width="1920" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7nUXZSxBBSI/YQBF1P6sRqI/AAAAAAAAX2Q/ZE5jL9sXNq0K2s8uhbb298g1hEY51CftQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/inCollage_20210722_124801961.jpg" /></a></div> <div> Collection now in the whitehouse gallery</div><div><br /></div><div>And finally after all that hard work I found a little time to go beach combing on the shoreline at Uig. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>That's it for this week!</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDmf8fH7oxc/YQBHFTINLEI/AAAAAAAAX2k/ebz819MSGQcqfkm5f0mkv38829sRwoXtACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/inCollage_20210720_083753837.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1372" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDmf8fH7oxc/YQBHFTINLEI/AAAAAAAAX2k/ebz819MSGQcqfkm5f0mkv38829sRwoXtACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/inCollage_20210720_083753837.jpg" /></a></div><br /><div><br /><div><br /></div></div>Paper rainbowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259871970757314671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098103047758068665.post-70052762148667152602019-06-06T19:01:00.000+01:002019-06-06T19:11:13.021+01:00Exhibition NewsI've just returned from the beautiful little seaside village of Findhorn. My newest Exhibition opened at the Moray Art centre there today and continues until the end of the month. The exhibition contains around 30 pieces of work much of it brand new and made especially for the show over the winter after my month long trip to Rajastan. I think a little bit of Indian colour has crept into the mix, what do you think?<p>Below the photos are just a little taster of what's on display. If you need any more details just message me. </p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><br></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1oT6XfhKqQM/XPlWLcjM1QI/AAAAAAAAK0M/5D7KgoQTocUcmGALu-n1tXmMlSyhnECfgCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1oT6XfhKqQM/XPlWLcjM1QI/AAAAAAAAK0M/5D7KgoQTocUcmGALu-n1tXmMlSyhnECfgCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p><br></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vy1-ziOyW0g/XPlWMVm9fBI/AAAAAAAAK0Q/D0WfJbG0vnkuwG2s4T5VAetOPB9a-K9QwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vy1-ziOyW0g/XPlWMVm9fBI/AAAAAAAAK0Q/D0WfJbG0vnkuwG2s4T5VAetOPB9a-K9QwCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5rkWUWZpLeU/XPlWNL-ugTI/AAAAAAAAK0U/27Z9_GJBLjkNntpdBBPsjYhq7bRnYA7nwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5rkWUWZpLeU/XPlWNL-ugTI/AAAAAAAAK0U/27Z9_GJBLjkNntpdBBPsjYhq7bRnYA7nwCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cJkae_sXCgU/XPlWOGpK9OI/AAAAAAAAK0Y/JMObzBcGjfQ_VGm2-f6NVNJVTY9tpcOBwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cJkae_sXCgU/XPlWOGpK9OI/AAAAAAAAK0Y/JMObzBcGjfQ_VGm2-f6NVNJVTY9tpcOBwCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JiyJS6KlmIs/XPlWPfzW8_I/AAAAAAAAK0c/m_-yeQPuDk0BZrEq9_6B-4qulINXhJRNACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-JiyJS6KlmIs/XPlWPfzW8_I/AAAAAAAAK0c/m_-yeQPuDk0BZrEq9_6B-4qulINXhJRNACLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ttAN1CeM22U/XPlWU3Hi2eI/AAAAAAAAK0g/Y3WR19OPp2s3Hw9NQYkyG5yRcV6w6ak_gCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ttAN1CeM22U/XPlWU3Hi2eI/AAAAAAAAK0g/Y3WR19OPp2s3Hw9NQYkyG5yRcV6w6ak_gCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gn9ge74p6lE/XPlWV8i1pPI/AAAAAAAAK0k/bmpn6Av7ftsxUa2wMGIFiMdtJz7Hxx2jwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_1839.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-gn9ge74p6lE/XPlWV8i1pPI/AAAAAAAAK0k/bmpn6Av7ftsxUa2wMGIFiMdtJz7Hxx2jwCLcBGAs/IMG_1839.JPG" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p><br></p>Paper rainbowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259871970757314671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098103047758068665.post-67269913816598474732019-02-22T08:19:00.001+00:002019-02-22T08:19:37.443+00:00Doodling with woodcocks.Hello,<p>This week it really seems Spring is in the air, and it's really quite mild. That means my studio is warmer, and my fingerless painting gloves have been cast aside, at least for now. Over the past two months I've had a break from the Skyeworks gallery and have been concentrating on getting together new work for the forthcoming summer. </p><p>My latest piece was inspired by a new winter visitor to my garden. A woodcock! This sweet little bird hides out in the trees and shrubs around my driveway during the day and then at dusk he emerges to hunt for food. </p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SPTWhXLvWxs/XG-wi_m8nGI/AAAAAAAAKf0/8_P2WvD-OfgDV6fFIDkBFSM-k9jSyH9CwCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SPTWhXLvWxs/XG-wi_m8nGI/AAAAAAAAKf0/8_P2WvD-OfgDV6fFIDkBFSM-k9jSyH9CwCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>A short, plump bird I also discovered through my American Instagram and Facebook followers he is known as a Timberdoodle. What a fantastic name, and a perfect description for him! </p><p><br></p><p>Below is my driveway where he likes to hang about!</p><p><p></p></p><p><p></p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Zu46Ocu-XfA/XG-wj2Z25oI/AAAAAAAAKf4/k32CeLyrVzwwT9dKD5y4AE51Bx24tVMRgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Zu46Ocu-XfA/XG-wj2Z25oI/AAAAAAAAKf4/k32CeLyrVzwwT9dKD5y4AE51Bx24tVMRgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>He's made of lots of layers of paper and paint.</p><p><br></p><p><p></p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nb4oB1PMZV8/XG-wk5vPARI/AAAAAAAAKf8/QpB3ruJ6aZ85M604Xk2dzOe60uRiyYo3ACHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nb4oB1PMZV8/XG-wk5vPARI/AAAAAAAAKf8/QpB3ruJ6aZ85M604Xk2dzOe60uRiyYo3ACHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>I've also finished another poppy landscape.</p><p><p></p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ECKuzvPNNns/XG-wldh5wpI/AAAAAAAAKgA/P0HTJAt5U3gPSpgPRDC1koKLAGBeaRh-gCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ECKuzvPNNns/XG-wldh5wpI/AAAAAAAAKgA/P0HTJAt5U3gPSpgPRDC1koKLAGBeaRh-gCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>#Lovemypet day on wednesday meant a certain someone had to get into the frame. It's been a busy week.<p>I spent a few days last weekend over on the Scottish mainland in Appleross, a remote peninsular on the north west coast of Scotkand, its coastline overlooks Skye, infact I can see its Torridon mountains from my house on Skye.</p><p>The mountain pass to Applecross is one of the highest in the UK and is a spectacular drive, although in Winter it is often impassible. I took some great photos of the large numbers of red deer which make their way down to lower levels near the coast to escape the snow and find food.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HVDlWR7pdsQ/XGX03buEN6I/AAAAAAAAKe0/z8DV5DdDa9kHqg5yQqe4s5qkzCZrCzpOwCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-HVDlWR7pdsQ/XGX03buEN6I/AAAAAAAAKe0/z8DV5DdDa9kHqg5yQqe4s5qkzCZrCzpOwCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>This very elegant chap had been grazing amongst the bracken and had acquired a very natty antler decoration. I was snowed in the house for a few days, which if you have a full freezer and nowhere pressing to go is no great hardship. In fact the snow brought the beautiful Roe deer which live around my house back down to my garden. Watching them from my studio window I thought, If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what is!</p><p>So with nowhere to go and plenty of time to experiment I began a new deer collage.</p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zr02rE4w9SI/XFskxDKP3kI/AAAAAAAAKdw/7Mzl6tmBqx81eiLyxw5h_tLe0yOKFnJsACHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zr02rE4w9SI/XFskxDKP3kI/AAAAAAAAKdw/7Mzl6tmBqx81eiLyxw5h_tLe0yOKFnJsACHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>I used lots of lovely silvery Christmas gift wrap which I and my lovely friends had saved up. Making layers and layers building up colour.</p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1SsxNs8be-w/XFskxrSzEiI/AAAAAAAAKd0/E-s12zNhasE8z1kjo4ELZuS4QIVbHX0zgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1SsxNs8be-w/XFskxrSzEiI/AAAAAAAAKd0/E-s12zNhasE8z1kjo4ELZuS4QIVbHX0zgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height="" class=" imageResizeTarget"></a></p><p>The deer were then painted in acrylics, I love these new Windsor and Newton professional acrylics atm.</p><p></p><p><br></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nLLbYFgYCoM/XFskyjYJ2LI/AAAAAAAAKd4/cdKcV7oIJGYz9mP2REgOmyU_SSz5YsJvgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nLLbYFgYCoM/XFskyjYJ2LI/AAAAAAAAKd4/cdKcV7oIJGYz9mP2REgOmyU_SSz5YsJvgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p><br></p><p>Finally finished, I think, although I haven't varnished it yet as I wasnt sure whether to add a bit of detail to the foreground, the more I leave it, the more happy I am with it. So it may well stay this way.</p><p>Finally, some snowy snowdrops, I just adore these delicate flowers. </p><p>Spring isn't far away!</p><p>Yayyyyy!</p><p><br></p><p><p></p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GKp0rKMCGkI/XFskzfl_VbI/AAAAAAAAKd8/N3Z7ZcaaqocBDycsDOBDMa4TdokDUnhoACHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1" ><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GKp0rKMCGkI/XFskzfl_VbI/AAAAAAAAKd8/N3Z7ZcaaqocBDycsDOBDMa4TdokDUnhoACHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p>Paper rainbowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259871970757314671noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098103047758068665.post-2108029600081582002019-01-30T15:31:00.001+00:002019-01-30T15:34:24.924+00:00Back to bloggingHello, it's been a while, and as one of my new year resolutions was to start blogging again I really need to show a little of what I've been up to.<p>Well, firstly lots of collage, many of my pieces found their ways to various parts of the world. Australia, United states, Germany, France as well as all corners of the UK. I will always be hugely thankful and appreciative of all those who love my artwork.</p><p>Here are a couple of the many that flew to new forever homes near and far over the past months.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><br></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zG35672rS7g/XFHDEcjJxRI/AAAAAAAAKbg/Bb_EFHnYAnIJvH6R7bZVtweWFpET67IJgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-zG35672rS7g/XFHDEcjJxRI/AAAAAAAAKbg/Bb_EFHnYAnIJvH6R7bZVtweWFpET67IJgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><br></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hjgMijSM3Pk/XFHDFr043gI/AAAAAAAAKbk/T80EdCgRniMq_iIFKoxIjJQEvuw7k62TwCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hjgMijSM3Pk/XFHDFr043gI/AAAAAAAAKbk/T80EdCgRniMq_iIFKoxIjJQEvuw7k62TwCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><br></p><p>I also was very busy mak<span style="font-size: 1.1em;">ing lots and lots of little bird mosaics using old vintage China and paper clay. I approach these as a sort of collage. The elements all being glued and assembled. The inspiration this year has been all the beautiful birds in my garden, which is full of trees and sheltered spots for them to hide.</span></p><p><br></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5jEsSAzRdM8/XFHDGn_F2rI/AAAAAAAAKbo/mviGWk654Y0ID_I55ZKIvucHwWDhnrqMgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5jEsSAzRdM8/XFHDGn_F2rI/AAAAAAAAKbo/mviGWk654Y0ID_I55ZKIvucHwWDhnrqMgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-rzAe1hqdYaI/XFHDH8rXQsI/AAAAAAAAKbs/VGku0PNwio4Nh1axj2CFvrJYI9VOhXrgACHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-rzAe1hqdYaI/XFHDH8rXQsI/AAAAAAAAKbs/VGku0PNwio4Nh1axj2CFvrJYI9VOhXrgACHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>And now?</p><p>Well a fantastic month long trip to India in November means I'm full of inspiration. India is so full of pattern and colour. I even visited a paper factory in jaipur to watch paper being made and posted a whole stash back to myself. Already it's being put to good use!</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nrWcMCSrjCg/XFHDL9BpN-I/AAAAAAAAKbw/eKN5JwE61O0TQsZf1kT6UFKqA2VJkeQOgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nrWcMCSrjCg/XFHDL9BpN-I/AAAAAAAAKbw/eKN5JwE61O0TQsZf1kT6UFKqA2VJkeQOgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j-Y5-Z5ECOM/XFHDMfcn7qI/AAAAAAAAKb0/Rqs9JLmI8Q0dLKY8n8rnAb_Xyr3pgm4_gCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-j-Y5-Z5ECOM/XFHDMfcn7qI/AAAAAAAAKb0/Rqs9JLmI8Q0dLKY8n8rnAb_Xyr3pgm4_gCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>I've also had some dear little visitors to my garden. This was taken through my studio window.</p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AEhRdwgdesQ/XFHDNOQcxOI/AAAAAAAAKb4/_eozVAgdFD0gXNRj6upC4SWuv7Nk8R_xQCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AEhRdwgdesQ/XFHDNOQcxOI/AAAAAAAAKb4/_eozVAgdFD0gXNRj6upC4SWuv7Nk8R_xQCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>So with that I'll show you what I'm working on atm.. just a detail, but it shows me messing around with gesso over torn paper. A new effect I'm trying to make seaside waves.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mupJ_4J4CEg/XFHDO5s8tLI/AAAAAAAAKb8/LmLDwF7m3oghMK3sBV3Pk-lh8YqtLHktgCHMYCw/s1600/%255BUNSET%255" imageanchor="1"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mupJ_4J4CEg/XFHDO5s8tLI/AAAAAAAAKb8/LmLDwF7m3oghMK3sBV3Pk-lh8YqtLHktgCHMYCw/%255BUNSET%255D" data-original-width="" data-original-height=""></a></p><p>So that's all for now. </p><p>See you soon. Well yet again I am feeling sorry for my sadly neglected Blog.<br />
Well no excuses, so instead I will show a little of what I have been up to over the winter, which was incredibly cold. Some days snow prevented me from leaving the house so many snowy days were spent in my studio. I discovered the joys of painting in gloves, hat and layers of fleece clothing!<br />
I started developing my mosaics over the winter months using vintage china and paperclay. This little chaps were made for Skyeworks Gallery Fish Exhibition. 'fish for tea' I love making them and have been working on a series of characters.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Over the winter I spent a lot of time feeding the birds around my house which gave me so much joy and inspiration. Now the little friends from my garden have crept into my mosaics too. Now my main problem is sourcing large quantities of old damaged china as I really don't like breaking up perfectly good things even if they are from junk shops!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Of course I am still tearing paper and working on large collage paintings and I will post some soon.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TGO5dY_t9-E/WhM8jM_ZYMI/AAAAAAAAJ5Y/70pE_jPUM1AV7QE8Rqq5Iu1qCMS66WSCACLcBGAs/s1600/20170731_172433-1-1-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1439" data-original-width="1475" height="312" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TGO5dY_t9-E/WhM8jM_ZYMI/AAAAAAAAJ5Y/70pE_jPUM1AV7QE8Rqq5Iu1qCMS66WSCACLcBGAs/s320/20170731_172433-1-1-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
During the Summer Skyeworks Gallery had a charity exhibition and this was one of my pieces, made from collage, paint and paperclay. My little blackbird was voted one of the exhibition favourites and is now available as a card. a proportion of the card sales are to go to Scottish Autism.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Over the past couple of months I have been very busy making a large commissioned piece of work for the Flodigarry Hotel on the Isle of Skye.<br />
The owners of the hotel contacted me and asked if I could create an abstract piece using colours of food from their fantastic restaurant kitchen.<br />
<br />
I began by visiting the kichens and taking lots of photographs of the food.<br />
All typically Scottish, fresh seafood, salmon, venison and fresh herbs salads and vegetables<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qKkaufqrp5U/WVYXp-IhRHI/AAAAAAAAJ08/5NbshWoMKhUEXuYKn8W-7LSv3NIqptsuQCLcBGAs/s1600/P1100540.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="150" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qKkaufqrp5U/WVYXp-IhRHI/AAAAAAAAJ08/5NbshWoMKhUEXuYKn8W-7LSv3NIqptsuQCLcBGAs/s200/P1100540.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GXwqB736XCo/WVYYbw0B4kI/AAAAAAAAJ1M/-_32lOkbPEwG1FGluMJcshjt_UY-I8pfQCLcBGAs/s1600/P1100549.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GXwqB736XCo/WVYYbw0B4kI/AAAAAAAAJ1M/-_32lOkbPEwG1FGluMJcshjt_UY-I8pfQCLcBGAs/s200/P1100549.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
From these I decided I wanted to create a waterfall of colour cascading down the canvas. The canvas size was much bigger than I usually work, 2 metres x 1 metre.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello patient blog readers, as usual my poor blog is a little quiet these days, although I am not.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the beginning of a new commissioned piece which I have just finished. Virtually all my pieces start off this way, lots of layers of torn paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cUOJnfhmKgA/WUpumvCfkKI/AAAAAAAAJy0/zwYxsv4WSmwCeMOkn8gD6_BnfzAwus8KgCEwYBhgL/s1600/19055873_2052561198336477_2395487406170689147_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="432" data-original-width="720" height="192" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cUOJnfhmKgA/WUpumvCfkKI/AAAAAAAAJy0/zwYxsv4WSmwCeMOkn8gD6_BnfzAwus8KgCEwYBhgL/s320/19055873_2052561198336477_2395487406170689147_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A while back I did a canvas called messages in the breeze, it was inspired by the old folklaw tales of dandelion seeds being carriers of messages for those loved ones we have lost. This is a new take on the idea, still including the dandelion seeds but using a moonlit sky. The photos show the canvas at various stages.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eXzgGMj3MOk/WUpunHSiN0I/AAAAAAAAJy0/3dQ1Oy3_UPwGxvGegGioNnaSaGhcawfHgCEwYBhgL/s1600/19366307_2061255557467041_1832149069666326461_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="576" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eXzgGMj3MOk/WUpunHSiN0I/AAAAAAAAJy0/3dQ1Oy3_UPwGxvGegGioNnaSaGhcawfHgCEwYBhgL/s400/19366307_2061255557467041_1832149069666326461_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And finally..... finished, Messages in the Breeze, Summer solstice.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's been a lovely couple of weeks on the Island, working in the gallery a few days a week gives me a chance to chat to folk about my art and meet lots of interesting people. last week I met a lovely local lady who bought the piece above, and three others!! Infact she already unbeknown to me had several of my pieces in her home. It was a delight to see the joy on her face when she talked about them. Paintings are so personal and knowing they have gone to such a loving and appreciative home is really fantastic. <br />
Had a lovely message from 'Giggles' one of my dear blog readers this week saying she could visualise my work as greeting cards,<br />
well.... as if by magic...<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I had my first cards printed a couple of months ago and they have been selling very well!!<br />
<br />
On Skye the weather has been beautiful recently,<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I began work on a larger canvas a couple of weeks ago, As well as the usual reds and golds I always use, yellows and greens are creeping into the layers.</div>

<br />
Been a long and busy winter but within the last few weeks I have finally got myself back in the workshop to start making new things. House renovations took over much of the winter and it is so lovely to paint pictures not walls!<br />
My hard work is paying dividends as three of my 4 pieces in Skyeworks Gallery bird exhibition have sold and flown off to new homes.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_bybgs8k-xQ/WP71OrzFVTI/AAAAAAAAJvQ/EGWVRePYLEsVrJZGFAmiHptlHusDuu9VgCLcB/s1600/P1100462.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="309" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_bybgs8k-xQ/WP71OrzFVTI/AAAAAAAAJvQ/EGWVRePYLEsVrJZGFAmiHptlHusDuu9VgCLcB/s320/P1100462.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Best friends</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Best friends which also sold on the first day of the exhibition was one of three bird paperclay mosaics I made especially for the exhibition. They received such positive feedback I think I may make more! They are made by piecing together small handmade tiles often imprinted with wild flowers gathered from my garden, which I paint and then seal with various mediums.<br />
<br />
Anyway, on to pastures new..<br />
<a href="https://skyeworksgallery.wordpress.com/">Skyeworks</a> gallery where I work and exhibit most of my work opened a new mixed spring exhibition yesterday and I have three new pieces on show.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have had a little blogging break for all sorts of reasons, time has been sort and creative makes non existent, however as the new year approaches I am determined to organise my time and dedicate more to studio hours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
November began with the exciting prospect of working a few days a week in Skyeworks Gallery in Portree on the Isle of Skye.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have exhibited at Skyeworks for some years and was very excited when the opportunity to work for them transpired. Now a month or so in I am really enjoying it. meeting people who are interested in art and being surrounded by beautiful things is a joy. </div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The weather has been milder than usual and there have been some beautiful sparkly clear days.<br />
<br />

And finally at last I have finished a commission! A little christmas eve box for a new little persons first Christmas.<br />
Happy Christmas Jack, and to all of you, the New year will bring ( Hopefully) new work and more regular blogposts! ;)Paper rainbowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259871970757314671noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098103047758068665.post-32895826292567154182016-11-03T17:32:00.000+00:002016-11-03T17:32:04.130+00:00Flying high<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Nothing new to share this week art wise as I have been very busy so instead I will share Flying High a large collage I made during the late summer months but haven't had time to blog until now.<br />
<br />

<br />
I started the usual way with small paper fragments and gesso but added the textural flowers by stencilling modelling paste onto the lower part of the canvas.<br />
I may not have been making art but I'm always gathering inspiration,<br />
At this time of year the berries are beautiful.<br />

<br />
lots of exciting news this week! This Saturday <a href="http://inchmoregallery.co.uk/">Inchmore Gallery</a> gallery in Inverness opens its annual winter exhibition, and I have have three new collage paintings on show. It is the first time I have had work shown in the gallery and am very pleased to have such a wonderful space to showcase my work. My first piece is a favourite of mine. I don't usually have favourites but Mr fox really connected with me as I was making him. I have never made a fox piece before and I really enjoyed the challenge.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
the paintings title is the' Hill of the red fox' named after the hill of the same name which is on the Trotternish ridge near lealt on the Isle of Skye. it is a piece that has been in my head for a long time so I am glad Mr fox has finally made it out my head and onto the shores of the Beauly firth!<br />

And finally another large piece, and another that is special to me,<br />
'The happiness of Thistles'<br />
<br />
Why happy thistles? Well thistles by their very nature are never organised, they grow haphazard, scattering themselves hither and thither. These thistles are a different breed, they stand tall, straight and organised. They have purpose, and to have purpose is to be happy. Who would not be smile to survey from the house the cliff a wonderful field full of neat rows of thistles.<br />

<br />
I have been making lots of moonlight pieces recently.<br />
This one is on a large MDF panel. It gives a lovely firm surface to collage onto. I am often asked how I combine the paper and paint layers so here is a little WIP photo, although I'm not sure it makes it any clearer. I tend to work quite organically, often only having a vague idea of where I am going. Pieces introduce themselves slowly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T2JiXQ0ujs0/V_0e98HKziI/AAAAAAAAJoI/nBW_G2zZ4ac5XjldTinhdaLe7a7PKGIwQCLcB/s1600/P1100305.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-T2JiXQ0ujs0/V_0e98HKziI/AAAAAAAAJoI/nBW_G2zZ4ac5XjldTinhdaLe7a7PKGIwQCLcB/s400/P1100305.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Sometimes not knowing exactly where the adventure will take you is a little scary, however as the great explorer Christopher Columbus said,<br />
'you can't cross the ocean without losing sight of the land'.<br />

Well lots of bits and bobs this week, all however with a theme.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
Over the past year I have made more steps to get myself 'out there' and this has been paying dividends!</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
I have submitted four CD sized pieces for the <a href="http://inchmoregallery.co.uk/">Inchmore Gallery</a> winter exhibition.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
This is a lovely idea where mini artworks are displayed inside clear CD cases. The finished pieces are all priced affordably and make great Christmas gifts.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
I visited the gallery last weekend and met Jane Owen Inglis the gallery owner, both to drop off the CD sized pieces and three other large canvas collages which were accepted for their winter exhibition.</div>

the Inchmore is a beautiful airy gallery converted from a lovely old church.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
It has a wonderful presence and sense of history and is set near the shores of the picturesque Beauly firth in northern Scotland. I am delighted Jane was so enthused by my work and really appreciate the opportunity to show my work in such a fantastic setting.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">

Been a busy few weeks and a couple of weeks ago some new pieces of mine travelled over to Aberdeen to a lovely gallery in Aberdeens city centre called <a href="http://www.junction-arts.co.uk/">Junction Arts</a><br />
So happy to be forging links with Aberdeen and the east coast as my youngest daughter lives and works there.<br />
Elaine the gallery owner was particularly interested in my sewn paper croft houses.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i7vVebQxtWE/V-OINI-SAII/AAAAAAAAJmY/218m-x1kh_QJSJbkc5y8cdQCb77CLq3hQCLcB/s1600/wee%2Bhouses.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i7vVebQxtWE/V-OINI-SAII/AAAAAAAAJmY/218m-x1kh_QJSJbkc5y8cdQCb77CLq3hQCLcB/s400/wee%2Bhouses.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

So I've made a few wee bits for her to show, some backed onto wood panels, some stretched and framed.<br />

I just love thistles, perhaps it is their colour, that gorgeous purple pink, perhaps it is their resilient nature, whatever it is, I never tire of them.<br />
This time of year they cover the wild landscape. This canvas was finished a few weeks back but I haven't had time to blog it, or several others I have finished recently. I don't know if it is just me, but since relenting and setting up a facebook business page I seem to struggle keeping up with doing both a regular blog and facebook posts. I resent feeling I am spending too much time on line so I set time restraints on how much I devote to such stuff. Is this wrong? Am I the only one out there struggling to multitask social media? Blogging was always my main love as it forms a sort of visual diary. It is a journey of words, thoughts and inspiration. Do you do both? If so which works best for you.<br />
<br />
Below is a close up of the rich textures of paper and paint.<br />

The seagull dance was finished this week and is now at Skyeworks Gallery in Portree.<br>
The summer is as skye is...one day sparkling sun the next mist and drizzle. Seagull dance is definately one of those sparkle sunshine days. Earlier in the week Paramount movies were on the island filming the new Transformers movie. Those days were unfortunately not the best. I believe they intended to ride stunt horses along the ridge...the rain and drizzle must have made shooting anything a wee bit tricky! I stopped and took a photo but most of the action seemed to be in the catering trailer out the rain! </p>

I enjoy working in a semi abstract style, primarily my passion is pattern and colour and these two pieces illustrate this. The first' spruce ridge' is on canvas and as you can see combines torn paper and paint.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O3OKBIrpxHo/V4wHJtVdIfI/AAAAAAAAJiQ/V7kgsL51SC0u7DGaSpXuOX-SU-VEDDTRwCLcB/s1600/P1090414.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O3OKBIrpxHo/V4wHJtVdIfI/AAAAAAAAJiQ/V7kgsL51SC0u7DGaSpXuOX-SU-VEDDTRwCLcB/s640/P1090414.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
This much larger piece is on wood. Entitled 'on a clear day' it is a flow of pattern and colour.Inspired by the views from Northern Skye looking east towards the mainland, in front are some of my small 3D croft mini collages which combine paperclay and paper.Paper rainbowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13259871970757314671noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2098103047758068665.post-60967874298991623692016-08-04T06:30:00.000+01:002016-08-04T06:30:03.122+01:00Eagle bowl<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Long time ago my followers may remember my mermaid bowl...<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D-9EQC50yeM/UsK-5fyqdRI/AAAAAAAAFls/5sbDOvDqo7s/s400/mermaid+4.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">mermaid bowl</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<img src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a9e_IHBINSk/UsK-_sp8YOI/AAAAAAAAFl0/zVHVXeVeeSg/s400/mermaid+bowl+3.jpg" /><br />
<br />
<br />
Well i hadn't done a collaged bowl for some time and I wanted to try something new. So here we have my eagle bowl! Made with torn paper and acrylic paint on a papermache substrate. I made it to hang on the wall rather than sit as the bowl shape collects the light and it reflects the gold on the sea eagles feathers. Skye is the home to a couple of eagle species, Sea eagles inhabit the cliffs surrounding Portree bay where little boat trips go out on eagle spotting trips. I've been on several, one in particular saw the eagle fly right down over our boat, a magical experience!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R527TVmq-O8/V40aSW1US2I/AAAAAAAAJik/jwCpGfl-6nUkzylS6CY16sXh0lwrfXkUQCLcB/s1600/P1070633%2Beagle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R527TVmq-O8/V40aSW1US2I/AAAAAAAAJik/jwCpGfl-6nUkzylS6CY16sXh0lwrfXkUQCLcB/s400/P1070633%2Beagle.jpg" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
The idea began in my sketchbook<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xAh8_vl-eKs/V40akxsBLaI/AAAAAAAAJis/LteaK0h4Fq4UI_1amSsR1X-rQ3-Gw-XWQCEw/s1600/P1070632.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xAh8_vl-eKs/V40akxsBLaI/AAAAAAAAJis/LteaK0h4Fq4UI_1amSsR1X-rQ3-Gw-XWQCEw/s320/P1070632.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
then was painted in black gesso<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U-oQPotkrhk/V40aYPhGSHI/AAAAAAAAJio/HNt92j-oDIcc9hsNtujjkA2nVwAv_8NHgCLcB/s1600/P1070635%2Bplate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U-oQPotkrhk/V40aYPhGSHI/AAAAAAAAJio/HNt92j-oDIcc9hsNtujjkA2nVwAv_8NHgCLcB/s320/P1070635%2Bplate.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I added the paper fragments<br />
<br />
