In the Artists playroom
The artists playroom challenge this week was colour. What a blessed relief!! Almost at the end of dark and dreary January thank goodness. This mixed media collage is very summery, it is a combination of discarded unsatisfactory watercolour paintings which I ripped up and combined with gesso and acrylic paint as well as a few flower petals. The words Pretty fizzy jumped out at me from a magazine, if summer had a sound it would be' fizzy'. Summer bees, fizzy lemonade...roll on spring....

I combined my favourite colours, Magenta, cerulean blue, purples, pinks and greens with a rich shimmery glaze.
Visiting from the APR - This is Absolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of the beautiful Isle of Skye :0) Mo
Thank you! Glad to find another Skye fan! :)
Deletethis is a truly beautiful piece, I'm so inspired by it. I'd love to be good at abstracts, how do you find the balance and know where the colors should go?? Absolutely mind bogglingly stunning. I hope you don't mind if I cull your painting picture and put it into my "inspiration" file on my computer. I find just looking at pieces that inspire me give me new ideas. Thanks so much for joining APR, I sure hope you join again and again, your art will be such a great addition.
ReplyDeleteBest,

Thank you so much! Just discovered the APR recently, love the idea and would love to join future challenges, the colour one did appeal in particular as I love colour. I often work in abstract but sometimes by mistake,In this piece I ripped up a still life I had painted. This regular starting point in my collages leads then in various directions, many of them rarely planned. Love to think my 'feeling fizzy' gives you inspiration, looking forward to new challenges :)
DeleteI LOVE THIS! what did you use for thw shimmery glaze?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Vicki
Thanks Vikki, I like to use Daler Rowney Interference colour, I thin it with a bit of acrylic medium. My favourites are the blues and greens.
DeleteI love the impressionistic feel of your collage. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteThis is just what is needed on this awful morning of winds and heavy rain after the snow. Fizzing is just right such beautiful colours. I just can't keep my eyes my eyes still, they slide from one lovely colour to another, and your colours are so pure and clear. I love it.
ReplyDeletegorgeosity!! I love how you play!!
ReplyDeleteFizzy is just so happy!
ReplyDeletewonderful collage! so interesting to read bout your process in your post and the comments. I am terrible at collaging, so this fascinates and inspires me!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I usually try to include a few before and after photos to show the collage in progress, will try do that next APR post :)
DeleteOh wow...this is beautiful. Fizzy is perfect for such a fizzling painting. I really like the way your mind fizzles.
