Busy sewing...
detail |
Wild sewing is more than a little addictive, watching the machine needle whiz around the papercloth fills me with happiness!
I had a query about how the reverse of the panel was finished,
So .....
Backed with felt and neatly blanket stitched. The embroidered papercloth is stretched over pre-cut MDF panels.
Just need to add a picture hook so it's ready to hang.
So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pieces! Ulrike
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work - I love the soft heather colours and I love the blanket you photographed them against! The top part of the larger piece looks different to the rest - is it screen printed - I really love the effect.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colours and textures, and I love how you finish off the backs too.
ReplyDeleteI love your wild sewing pieces Morag. I know how you love to use sweet papers in your work. That swirly pattern reminds me of an Easter egg wrapper. I wonder if I am right.
ReplyDeleteStunning and I love the details..they are pieces of art all on their own... love how neat it's finished up too!! Wonderful work!

These look absolutely gorgeous! Love them. A sewing machine has been on my wish list for ages, but I probably have too many things going on already. It does look like great fun though.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pieces again! WOW! Great art Morag!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!
Fab sewing scapes. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteNever seen anything like this before I LOVE them. I clicked on each on to make them large. Great stuff going on in them. Super.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Morag - I'm so glad someone asked about the back - I hadn't thought of that, I just assumed the embroidered paper was glued to the mdf or something but this is so much nicer! Sewing-scapes should definitely be a word!
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty, and the process sounds like fun. I just got a new sewing machine, so may play with this idea. Blessings!
ReplyDeletethey are gorgeous and I love the word you chose for them too! Very tidy and clean sides and back too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are both lovely, but even more I admire your devotion to a certain way of doing things. Isn't it just lovely to get lost in some dream work? I can so relate to the process of digging deeper into a theme or way of doing things. Always wanting to learn more, and know every tiny possibillity it holds. I always admire your work.
ReplyDeleteSuch exquisite works Morag, "sewing scapes" is a wonderful expression for your art journey, always so mesmerising and delicate, beautiful work!
ReplyDeleteHow incredibly beautiful. Your artwork--these sewing landscapes--fill my eyes, which is the greatest compliment I can give.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! This is something I have always been interested in, what an amazing job you did,
ReplyDeleteThis piece is wonderful I love all the textures and colors you've used.
ReplyDeleteI love the intricacy of these, so many fascinating pieces to admire.
ReplyDeleteAll it takes is for a few people to start using a made up word and all of a sudden it is a word. So use sewing-scrapes as much as possible, and it will catch on! I like how you incorporated writing into the first piece. It would be wonderful to see your pieces in real life. It would be too tempting to touch then though!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. Blessings, Janet PPF
