Collage Obsession 'Fishes'

         Fishing for Mackerel

This weeks collage obsession challenge is 'Fishes' so I'm posting a collage I did a few months ago but hadn't posted it on my blog until now, wasn't quite sure it was finished but I think it probably is....
It is inspired by a fishing trip I took many years ago fishing for mackerel in a little boat off the north west coast of the Island of Skye. I wanted the painting to shimmer rather like the scales of the fish so there are a lot of reflective foils and silk ribbons.. The jumping fish are fabric, I drew the fish and decorated them in fabric paint and when dry machine embroidered them .

  5. I love your collage. I don't think you could do anything to improve it! I asked the question if it was ok to submit older work...and now that I see you have, I think I will!

    1. Thanks Annie, I like to think the challenge is all about sharing creative ideas, I see from your last post you have a homefull!! also love the idea of having to create something new by a deadline on a topic I may not have considered otherwise. Its also a great way to discover lots of new creative bloggers like yourself!!

  10. Thank you! I build up layers of paper and then add gesso and paint tints to create a very textured surface. I like the random way torn paper behaves and the abstract forms it makes.
