Still life with a peacock feather

APR Challenge

This weeks APR prompt is 'peacocks' so I thought it was about time I did a watercolour with no collage elements (Tough for me to resist a bit of cutting and sticking)

Peacock feather and beads

This is watercolour, coloured pencil and pitt pen. I love peacock feathers, I have several pairs of peacock earrings, a peacock feather necklace, a number of peacock feather t-shirts..in fact if it has a peacock on it I will probably buy it. A shame I don't live in a stately home then I could buy a few peacocks and have them running around the lawns... I can dream I guess. :)

  1. I am going to slink away now and hide my head under a pillow. Mine is not in the same class! I've just left the studio and come for a coffee. My peacock image is coming the way I want it, but suddenly it has turned bit creepy. Yours is so lovely, I could almost pick it off the page. I love the blue shadows, and the textured background. This is super. And that touch of red really brings it to life.

  2. this is wondrously lovely, Morag. I love how you have interpreted it and I know just what you're saying about staying away from bits of paper and glue. funny coincidence for me that Photo Art Friday this week is Collage, so I am thinking I might go digital and combine the two! of course, at this point drawing is my biggest challenge, as is colouring or painting. my hands seem so shaky and unsure of themselves...

  5. that feather is so...feathery! so light and airy. You can sense it might move in a bit of a breeze. And the red is a nice contrast to the greens and blues.

  6. Truly beautiful. In a class of it's own. I too love peacocks, particularly when their feathers are on display. Their cry is quite disconcerting in the wee small hours tho' :0) Mo

  7. Lovely and very feather-y! I'm afraid I own nothing peacocky, so I had to just use my imagination on this one.

  8. I love the romantic take of your peacock piece. By the way, dreams can become a reality, so you may have some peacocks running around your stately home some day. Blessings!
