What I treasure

 APR CHALLENGE

'What I treasure' is the theme for this weeks APR, and I could have drawn any number of special things I have stowed away, I'm a terrible hoarder, If Swirlygirl is reading this she will be round tomorrow with her declutter manual! However it is true, sometimes it is hard to throw away things, but when it comes down to it what I really treasure is the freedom and space to be me.
This is a page from my journal. I thought I would take the plunge and pick up the pitt pens ( Jez at butterfly mind uses them so well) I don't often use pens or markers, couldn't resist adding a bit of watercolour and coloured pencil...and of course torn paper on the little birds. I must try and do a none collaged piece to see if I manage it.
As for little places to store precious things, how about this...

This beautiful little casket was in the cathedral museum in Pisa. It doesn't show too well on the photo but the enamel was vibrant cobalt blue. quite beautiful..One of my many hundred Italian Adventure photographs, knew they might come in in useful!

  2. that is a gorgeous treasure box, just having the picture is inspiring but imagine being able to use that as your jewelry box?? Great idea for what do you treasure. I agree, the freedom to be ME, unique and wierd is so important to me. Great job, I'll have to remember that.

  3. Such a lovely picture of one of the greatest pleasures and treasures .... The freedom to be the person you want to be and to do the things you want. And it comes in so many ways. There is so much to look at in your painting, it's quite complex, and such a lovely mix of media.
I wonder what is in the 'treasure box' in Florence.

    1. Thanks Boo, as the birds are in joyful song it seemed right for them to be made from musical notes. I did try hard not to collage this page of my journal but the temptaton was to great. :)

  5. Declutter manual at the ready! ;o) Love this piece and nice to see you taking a slightly different approach using pens. The birds are a wonderful addition and the paper you have used to collage them is a great idea. That casket is beautiful btw and I'm sure you could replicate it in a frugal way too :) x

  6. Frugality is my middle name! modpoge, newsprint, quality street wrappers and an old shoebox at the ready! Not decluttering means I have all these things readily to hand. ;)

Freedom is certainly something to be treasured and your entry is a brilliant reminder for us all to embrace that.
