Today, two faces ( I am having a break tomorrow )
It is a year now since I wisited Florence and I was looking back at some of my photographs. This painting is inspired by a beautiful fountain in the Boboli gardens of the Pitti palace. I am not sure who the figures made of marble are, the gardens were filled with so many beautiful sculptures I didn't note down all the information, but they look rather sad and wistful.

ReplyDeleteLove your watercolor rendition of the couple. They are Adam and Eve (fig's leaves!), while the crawling figure at their feet is the Devil (face of an angel, tail of a serpent...;)). Travel is such an endless source of inspiration.Did you enjoy Italy? Isn't Florence just magical! :)

ReplyDeleteWhen I looked at your painting I felt the 'classical' touch, and a sculptural effect, so I was pleased to read that it was inspired by your visit to Florence. I love the delicate touch and it is clear they are rather sad, perhaps star-crossed lovers.

You transformed the cold hard marble to a warm, soft painting. Love your watercolor. Was your owl also a watercolor? We have two owls who talk to each other in the early mornings, right here in the suburbs. I love them! Of course, I am up and reading art blogs :)
