more pieces of skye

What's on my workdesk this Wednesday?

I am working on lots of small wooden collaged panels at the moment, it is a bit of a production line!
I do a little on one piece and then move onto another while waiting for each to dry. I am calling these panels little pieces of Skye as they represent the colours and landscapes of the Scottish Island of Skye off the west coast of Scotland.

They don't look very exciting at the moment...
but hopefully that will change :)

  1. Oh they do look exciting to me! Skye is such a beautiful place I wouldn't know where to begin if I was to try to paint it. :) I look forward to seeing yours develop!

  2. On the contrary, I think they look wonderful even before you start embellishing!
I love Skye so much, we always used to tour and camp around Scotland when we lived in Northumberland for many years and Skye has a special place in my heart. I remember swimming in Talisker Bay with seals :-) That was a golden moment!

  5. I love how the pinks and the greens are rolling gently together. Looks great so far. Your Four panels in the previous post are stunning. You did such a gorgeous job especially on the birds. They look like they are soaring!

    1. Hi dawn, lovely to meet you :) I love texture having trained as a textile artist so yes to your question my pieces have many layers of texture and pattern many of which do not show up too well on camera. These particular pieces are mainly torn handmade papers and acrylic paint, but I often incorporate fabric too.

  10. What you show in this works in progress photo is enticing, you have so much imagination and I love the way you are working upwards so that the paintings seem to be growing organically. Looking forward to seeing the completed paintings.

  12. Your works-in-progress look great. My first glance said "landscapes" and then I saw the word collage and thought, "Oh, maybe that's not intended" but indeed, it is! Thanks for showing us. Happy WOYWW on Thursday. ~ Laura #14
