Wild sewing is more than a little addictive, watching the machine needle whiz around the papercloth fills me with happiness!
I had a query about how the reverse of the panel was finished,
So .....
Backed with felt and neatly blanket stitched. The embroidered papercloth is stretched over pre-cut MDF panels.
Just need to add a picture hook so it's ready to hang.
So beautiful!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous work - I love the soft heather colours and I love the blanket you photographed them against! The top part of the larger piece looks different to the rest - is it screen printed - I really love the effect.

ReplyDeleteI love your wild sewing pieces Morag. I know how you love to use sweet papers in your work. That swirly pattern reminds me of an Easter egg wrapper. I wonder if I am right.

These look absolutely gorgeous! Love them. A sewing machine has been on my wish list for ages, but I probably have too many things going on already. It does look like great fun though.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful work Morag - I'm so glad someone asked about the back - I hadn't thought of that, I just assumed the embroidered paper was glued to the mdf or something but this is so much nicer! Sewing-scapes should definitely be a word!

I can so relate to the process of digging deeper into a theme or way of doing things. Always wanting to learn more, and know every tiny possibillity it holds. I always admire your work.

ReplyDeleteAll it takes is for a few people to start using a made up word and all of a sudden it is a word. So use sewing-scrapes as much as possible, and it will catch on! I like how you incorporated writing into the first piece. It would be wonderful to see your pieces in real life. It would be too tempting to touch then though!
