Getting back to routines after a little break can be difficult and all I seem to have to show this week are some pages from my sketchbook. Summer is done and time to capture a few of the late blooms before they fade,
Hydrangeas are such chameleons...
Sometimes blue, sometimes pink... what colour are yours? :)
Other news this week is that my new mixed media workshops started in Lancashire,the course runs over several weeks so I will post some photos at the end. Already I am very excited by what the great group of ladies have created.
Better get back to the workdesk and get busy.... :)

Love your sketchbook page of your beautiful blue Hydrangea Morag. We have a Hydrangea plant in a large container, and it has been really lovely this year, blueish to start with, then gradually turning pink! I think I may need some rusty nails in the soil to get more blue next year.

ReplyDeleteThey are chameleons...I heard certain minerals make them different colours...not sure that's true! Mine are purple! I went through a spell of having dried ones as part of my decor! Your watercolour is stunning!

This is beautiful Morag. It's funny how although it's in a very different medium from your normal mixed media pieces, it's still very much reognisable as your style. That's great news about your workshop - I'm sure it will be a great success.

My hydrangeas are mainly blue and mauve and have looked amazing this year. Sadly they're now showing that autumn is here and are a little brown around the edges. However, I'm enjoying the reds that are appearing on my virginia creeper! I wonder if they'll find their way into a painting?

ReplyDeletebeautiful hydrangea painting! Well, I used to have a gorgeous hydrangea bush for many years that produced a mix of bluish and pink blooms-until this summer. Our hard cold icy winter did it in:(:( I'll be looking to replace it next spring with a new one.

Your hydrangeas are so delicate and pretty. I did have a hydrangea bush with blue flowers but it did not seem to grow very much, maybe I didn't water it enough.

Beautiful painting! Love your hydrangeas. I was so looking forward to the hydrangeas blooming, but it was so hot here this year, they never really bloomed at all. Enjoy your workshop!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely... We get blue hydrangeas in our neighbourhood doe to the soil, but just a a few streets over they are all pink... Amazing the difference a few streets makes
