I have been finishing off some more collaged wooden panels..
This one is a combination of gesso, modelling paste, acrylic and collaged papers. I liked the idea of working on a silhouette in amongst a collaged foreground. I used Gelli printed papers and also scratched through to make a textured landscape. The sky was made using stencilled modelling paste and then sprayed with shimmer ink.
I also have been trying more abstract plant forms on wooden panels
I used a stencil and modelling paste to get the effect

This one uses tree bark and also 'Heather flower soft'.
I also used it to finish off my little stag portrait. I thought some he would like some Heather to frolic in :)
Beautiful finished piece.
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely textures. Your stag is wonderfull.I love colour.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stag, these spirit animals seem to be so profound and spiritual, they are one of my biggest inspirations as well. Beautiful work, Morag. Beautiful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteInteresting technique. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteLovely work Morag, great experimentation with tree bark, and the heather flower soft works really well with it. Particularly like your stag silhouette, he looks very strong and striking. Love the cheeky little stag too :)
ReplyDeleteMorag these are beautiful, that first piece with the silhouette of the stag stirs something inside, it's truly beautiful, a quiet dignified beauty, magic! I love your Heather effects, nature is truly present in your work, such gorgeous textures and colors, a real treat for the eyes!

ReplyDeleteAnnabelle : )
Wonderful variety, Morag. Your works on the panels is just gorgeous! I love the effect of the flower soft, something I've never used myself. I'm glad you explained what it was.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the silhouetted Monarch of the Mountains and the collaged foreground, very effective. I always love abstract work, and your abstracts are lovely, especially the golden one with the incorporation of natural materials. As you will know, Andy Goldsworthy is a great user of natural materials and he is one of my favourite artists. The colours really glow on this one.
ReplyDeleteLoving the way you've used the Flower Soft! The stag has such dignity and grace standing there on that hill. You have a brilliant eye for color, too.
ReplyDeleteso beautiful! Great texture as always too. I have several tubs of Flower Sofft and have sprinkled it into my backgrounds for texture sometimes besides using for adding dimension to flower stamps.
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is wonderful I especially love that buck simply superb...the silhouette with the texture fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove all the different textures! So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThe stag silhouette collage is absolutely gorgeous! I was thinking I'd like to pin some of your collages on my Pinterest board of Collage and Mixed Media Art, if you don't mind! Would you like to have your full name there to accompany the links? I'm sure there are many more who would love to know about your collages!

You know what your work reminds me of? Layers of earth. When you drill down or the archeologists take core samples and there are layers of earth...that's what I think of. I LOVE that idea. I hope that isn't an insult because I think it's really neat!! LOVE your work. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Paint Party Friday!
