My First experiments
I received my first Gelli plate a couple of weeks ago and have been experimenting to see what it can do...some of you may know all about Gelli printing already, but I only recently discovered this exciting way of printing.I found it quite hard to find a Gelli Plate in the UK. In the end buying one from The Craft Barn. The best place I have found for a bit of Gelli inspiration is Caroline Dube on you tube.
Very soon I was Gelli printing everything and anything..
I found that thin craft acrylics worked best..especially with the bubblewrap imprints.
And what to do with all the printed paper??
A background for a collage, I drew out the figure and stuck her to the gelli printed collaged background.
Added some hair...
And stencilled a little gilt leaf and added some acrylic paint. I actually think I have overworked it as I much preferred seeing the jelli printed paper more clearer. So next time I will do less, to achieve more...

ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, i can see myself going totally nuts with this. i've never done it... i'll have to read up on it. it really does create the most interesting backgrounds!!
ReplyDeletei dearly love your girl... : )
xoxo
Looks as if you had lots of fun, isn't it strange how we can overwork something in our enthusiasm. I actually love your finished version.
ReplyDeleteokay, now you're making me want to try gelli printing. I love all the colors you've used. It looks so fun!!
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely...I love the quote...that can apply to your art too!!Love the geli print pages too...can't seem to locate one here in Canada either!!

Thank you,yes your Art must follow your heart...that is very true :) Re Gelli plates, I read that there was a global shortage of them! They need to step up production and employ a few more staff I think!
DeleteI love the finished result with all its depth and detail. Gelli, printing really has taken off. It does produce some amazing effects. I have to restrain myself from getting one - time being what it is!
ReplyDeleteSo I can at least appreciate all the beautiful results my blog-pals produce and show on their blogs.
Gorgeous prints! Very beautiful patterns and colours. And I love your collages. Thanks for your visit and kind comment. Have a great weekend, Suzanne
ReplyDeleteHaha, first I thought the first on is a piece at its own and found it quite lovely, and in the end I realize that it was a WIP :)) yes I think when working with the gelly print papers, half the work is done, so cool...I have some in my stash too, will see what to create...xox

Thanks Conny. The great thing about preparing work for Blogging is that I often photograph work in progress. This is both a good and bad thing as my worst fault is that I often overwork things, messing about and often doing to much. The WIP photos can show me where I went wrong. I greatly admire artists who can just use a few marks to convey a huge amount of feeling. That knowing when to stop is a rare talent :)
DeleteP.S I like the first photo best :)
DeleteYour geli experiments look wonderful as does the art you created. I think I had better stay away from geli printing as it does look addictive.xx
ReplyDeleteYou are having so much fun with your Gelli plate and getting great results. Carolyn is brilliant isn't she.....

an abundance of colorful inspiration here...you've made me want to get out the paint! very lovely... happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteOh...I don't think so. She doesn't look overworked to me at all. You have to be happy with your art...but it's awesome as is. I've never tried the gelli plate, but do love gelatin printing...which I think gives pretty much the same results.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree- it is wonderfully addictive! So glad you shared your awesome prints and collage with the party!
