Spring roses |
Gelli plate |
With my Gelli plate; I collected the leaves placed them on the plate and used them as a stencil. They produce beautiful paper. If you haven't seen the Gelli plate before I have done a couple of previous posts on it. Have a look at Gelli printing for ideas.
The leaves produce paper like this..........
Which I tear up and use in my collages.
It gives the collage a very textured look
and means by using my own paper it feels more personal
So... spring leaves and fresh roses.....

ReplyDeleteThanks Cat, I use so many because I can never make my mind up whch would be best, most of my work is made by happy accident, well it makes me happy anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely roses so fill of texture. Great idea to use real leaves for the stencils.

I keep reading about these gelli plates on so many blogs and i have to say I love how you created those fern prints on the paper. I'm going to go and read your post on the gelli plates as I don't fully understand how they work but I do like the outcome!! Your roses are lovely - you have a very distinctive style with your flower paintings which I like. We discovered a whole patch of tulips growing in our front garden the other day which I'm delighted about - there are so many buds and shoots coming up which we have no idea what they are as this is our first year in the house so it's lovely to see all the different things bloom (when the finally do because of this never ending winter!)
ReplyDeleteA new garden full of exciting undiscovered magic!! Sounds like you will have a lovely time over the next few months watching everything spring to life. There are lots of you tube Gelli plate tutorials to get you started if you are interested. Thanks for your lovely comments.
DeleteThese roses are just gorgeous, so full of sweet Spring scents and promise, beautiful!

DeleteYou are so good at painting flowers, they are so full of energy and colour! Fabulous results with the gelli prints
ReplyDeleteSo much that is lovely in this painting, the blue background making the red roses pop, the understated vase which is so skilfully done and the fern paper leaves. I am always impressed with the mixture of materials and techniques you use to produce your work. And then there are the lovely roses themselves.
ReplyDeleteYour gelli-leaf prints are great.
Thank you Jez, I love mixing up mediums, even when things go wrong it's all an experimental party. :)
