A strange assortment of bodyparts made from air drying clay. Not quite sure what these will turn into, depends where the mood takes me. ;)
Remember my merfolk from a few weeks back?
Well coco and the slate sisters have been joined by Azure.
Azure was stuck to plain wooden photo frame which I sanded down and painted with blue acrylic paint. I stuck her down and then painted her with sealer and then gesso..
I covered her in kitchen foil and stencilled some modelling paste onto the surrounding sea areas.
I intensified the colour to a strong Azure blue. The hair is scrunched up tissue paper.
Another of my Merfolk has emerged and is now in the frame!

Oh how clever you are. And the kitchen foil - genus idea. As for a scattering of body parts on your desk..it's OK, I haven't had breakfast yet!

Another lovely mermaid. She looks great covered in foil. Seeing the recent work you have done creating lovely pieces of art from everyday objects like plain boxes, frames etc has inspired me to have a try. The other day I was in a coffee house and had one of those hot chocolates that are made with milk and chocolate on a stick. However this one was on a wooden spoon and I thought I'll keep that and decorate it in some way. My hubby looked at me as if I was mad. Lol !
ReplyDeleteAdorable Azure...she is rather gorgeous. I do like reading about the process of creating, thank you for that, it's really interesting :-) The foil and tissue give great texture.

loving that blue! your mermaid is gorgeous and great placement on the frame. Great idea covering her in kitchen foil - did you apply some paint over that?
ReplyDeleteyou are so clever with paper clay....I ran out of ideas and now it has all dried up
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE this!!

love seeing the process, inspiring as I love all things blue and watery. Beautiful creation,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you have made her blue mermaid hair out of scrunched up tissue - it looks just right. Altogether a very striking and unusual frame. Your pieces like this always make me imagine them hung in a seaside cottage. Perhaps I should buy the cottage I have in my mind, which looks over one of the seascapes you create!
ReplyDeleteThose would sell like hotcakes here in Nantucket! You are so clever!
