Seascape

I have been toying with the idea of making a triptych, three panels joined to form one piece of artwork.
As you can see I didn't stop at three, I got a little carried away and stretched to four. I have been producing faces all of February for the 29 face challenge so really wanted to go for something more abstract.

The collaged panels are covered with papers, modelling paste, gesso and  paint.

As always my colours are brighter and more vibrant than the colours of my inspiration photographs, I take photographs as a starting point and they help me visualise what I would like to achieve.

The colours on the photo above are more similar to the finished piece, for some reason the camera didn't pick up the blues as brightly on the finished piece photo.
As you may notice I have several bits and bobs going on on the workbench at the moment!

The seascape panels are around 30cmx10 and collaged onto wood they are individual pieces so can be separated like this...

But I like like them together...

mix it monthly

I changed the colour with a pixlr filter to link up to mix it monthly where there is an abstract theme for the month. I actually really love the golden tones and think I need to get busy on four more panels using this colour combination!

Linking up  also to Paint party Friday where artists exchange ideas and inspiration.

  2. Lve the panels, and how you have painted them. I like the effects of dividing pictures into several parts, it makes a diffenent focal point each time. Valerie

  4. I don't think I've seen four panels before - perhaps it's a 'quadtych'. Whatever it would be called it is really lovely and I imagine it catches the light beautifully in 'real life'. Colour is so much brighter in our imaginations, and your colours really glow. I love all four up together, but the separate panels have their own special magic.

  5. I like them together too. But individually if they were on card they would make lovely book marks.

  20. These are wonderful! I love that your colours are more vibrant than the actual photos - that is what artistic licence is all about and I love adding colours that aren't necessarily 'there' in real life!

  25. I really like the seascape - four panels seems perfect to me. The 'mix it monthly' version is wonderful, too. It's interesting to play around with colors on the computer to come up with new ideas or to test them out; it has certainly worked for you here.
