Watching and waiting in blue

Firstly I will say that my blog is as always a place where I show my weekly arty meanderings, I don't get personal or political. However in the real world I am hugely passionate about politics and  how they affect each and every one of our lives.
Within the U.K the past week has been tumultuous, turbulent and tempestuous. I was saved from  losing all sense of sensibilities by an email via facebook from a lovely lady in Australia who had seen my collage watching and waiting last year at Skyeworks Gallery when she was on holiday on the island. The original watching and waiting sold but she wondered if I could make something similar.

watching and waiting
So, as a wonderful diversion from watching our political representatives become similar to rats fighting in a sack I set to work making a new watching and waiting in blue.

Started making lots of layers of paper and paint on a 10inch x 10 inch wood panel.

and ...... Mr hare is finished !!

Now on route to his new home. I'm sure the climate will suit him better in Australia, Its a bit stormy in the U.K at present!!

Hoping the next few weeks bring some sort of calm collective perspective.

  1. All of the tiny colored strips coming together like a woven tapestry is absolutely beautiful. I hope here in the U.S. and throughout the world, the rational people can overcome the craziness and bring about some sanity.

  3. Watching and Waiting in blue is simply gorgeous. I can feel your pain as the pain here is similar. Too much rancor. Not enough caring.

  6. This is so gorgeous, the textures, colours, the whole thing just jumps right out at me! Mr hare looks so real and full of such a wise soul. The sky and the fields are amazing and that moon light that lights everything up is totally magical, I'm in awe again here as usual! I do have a preference for this new version, as much as I loved the other one, this one is extra special. The lady who receives this will be so delighted, lucky her! Definitely better to forget politics and create like this!

  12. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! It's so wonderfully vibrant and of course I love the starry night sky! I always just want to reach into the computer screen and touch your paintings - such texture! Like you, I used art as a distraction (or indeed the news as an inspiration!) the world has gone mad so all we can do it keep on creating!

  17. An absolutely beautiful and magical piece of art Morag. I'm certain it will bring much joy in its new home. I thank goodness that I have my art to focus on too during these turbulent times. I don't know how I would survive sometimes without it. Take care and let's hope things become more stable and sensible soon.

  18. The new blue one is absolutely fabulous, I'm sure your lady will love it.
The sky is wonderfully blue, and the landscape is so complex with so much to look at. And of course the hare is really attractive too.

  22. I can see why your Australian friend loved Mr Hare. The new version is utterly magical, like a tapestry of dreams.

  23. Oh, that lady will be so pleased. I love both versions, the original one and the new one. I like how you made a similar painting but with different colours. So happy you can find distraction in your art. It sure is a crazy world we're living in. So much anger, so much intolerance, so many lies .... Hope in the end we all find some peaceful solution.
