Where is spring?

Waiting for Spring
Arm is most definitely on the mend after its unfortunate bath in scalding hot water! I had no idea a cup of boiling water could do that much damage...or take as long to heal.

Finally I did a little work in my journal today, The APR challenge is 'flight' and this is my last minute entry, my Sparklepodge Crow is waiting for Spring. This does look a little wintry for spring but recently the weather in the UK has been so cold and snowy white is forefront in my mind.

The background is built up of layers of white wrapping paper I saved from Christmas (Love a bit of re-cycling) and then layers of gesso and my new friend modelling paste. The crow is black gesso and then a coat of sparklepodge... I just love that name... :)

After my enforced rest I have been watching loads of You Tube Artsy tutorials, there is so much out there! I now can't wait to get experimenting again just need a bit of spring warmth and I'll be ready to go :)

  2. I love that crow! He looks slighty bewildered that winter is still here. I love all the purple and blue tones and textures in the background, so pretty, even if it is wintry!! (nothing against winter, it has just over stayed its welcome!!)

  3. Your crow is excellent. She is looking not amused, while waiting about spring. We are waiting too, here in Northern Germany ...

    1. Thanks Nic, I do believe it is actually called Modpodge sparkle, It is glue with added glitz, I call it 'sparklepodge'...I think the company should rebrand it and credit me with a few free bottles.

  11. Your bird is beautiful! Really lovely and full of wintery light. Ouch on the arm front - boiling water is a dangerous thing clearly. My thing is knives - if it's possible to cut yourself in any way with something then I'll do it. Accidentally of course (I just realised how weird that looked written down!)

  12. So glad you recovered in time to fit your Sparklepodge Crow in - love that name.
I've been watching out for your entry. As always, this is a beautiful collage, and I can imagine its sparkling in the sun (which actually happens to be shining in at this moment).
    Happy to see you back.

  13. Woah so sorry to hear about your arm. Hope you heal quickly--yowch.

Also I love that crow. What a beautiful guy he is perched and ready for action. I don't know why those charismatic birds have such a bad rap.

  22. Ouch...that sounds like a nasty injury ~ hopefully you're well on the mend by now. I know I'm really late visiting due to the Easter break.
I've been hearing all about the freezing temperatures over with you...brr! But hopefully spring is coming to call soon.
Sparklespodge sounds great...although haven't a scooby what I'd do with it! I've been meaning to watch some tutorials too although when I'm not sure...think I'll have to give up sleep to fit it in! ;D
Have a great week and thanks for sharing your artwork. I love the crow, colours and textures. It's great to read just how you have created the piece too. :D
