under-wraps ; WOYWW

This weeks work in progress  is still under-wraps....
It's a birthday present so can't show too much....  shhhhhhhh don't tell. ;)

I can show you these though,
Rangers liquid pearls! Aren't these colours scrummy!!
I may use them all if the mood takes me!

And I will be using a bit of this,
49p!! I do like a bargain.

I will show and tell very soon, when hopefully It will be delivered to it's new home.

For those who tuned into my workspace last week from WOYWW,
 This....

Turned into this....
Maiden of the waves
It is clay and paper collage on wood. The clay used is air drying and I have recently been experimenting with paperclay. I find it is less fragile than other airdrying clays as I think it has paper pulp added to the clay mix, making the unfired moulded pieces pretty tough and easier to sand and paint. I have looked on you tube at making my own but it looks awfully messy and to be honest life is too short!

And finally I know it isn't quite a work-desk, but it is a new canvas I am working on.

At the moment it is just lots of paper scraps and black gesso....

I think a landscape may emerge.

  2. I love your art - that landscape is mindblowing. I love patterns you see, rather than very realistic stuff... I think that's why your creations appeal to me. There's been lots of good feedback from my blog about the dragonfly pic! It's going on the wall next to some hare pics...I just put it on the windowsill to get a good neutral light to take the photo!

  3. I can't wait to see what you've got under wraps. Thanks for explaining about the paper clay. After your last post I googled it and it does look a bit messy when you can buy it ready made. Your canvas is looking great. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

  5. Oh I love the canvas already. And do I see body parts on top of that box?!! Love the idea of you adding flashes of foil to your work too - especially at a bargain price. I've seen one of your works elsewhere today...LLJ is just a little bit pleased!

  7. Your Maiden of the Waves is beautiful. I would ever have thought of using air drying clay to addd a 3 dimensional element to a collaged piece like that. I saw some of your lovely work on Lunch Lady Jan's blog and came to investigate. I'm so glad I did :o)

  13. There is so much lovely work to see here! I bought some paper clay a while ago for a workshop but never got around to trying it. To tell you the truth I may be a bit intimidated. I will have to just get past it and try soon. I look forward to seeing what is under wraps. xo

  14. I am always in awe when I visit you and your masterpieces in the creation process. If that piece is what you are working on then it is your desk ATM I hope you have a great crafting week.

    Happy WOYWW

  16. Your Maiden of the Waves is lovely, I like her rather surprised look, and it makes me wonder what she has seen.
Your abstract paper scraps piece looks promising - the thing about seeing your work progress is that it is never possible to forecast how a piece will turn out when you show the early stage, and that makes me impatient to see the finished artwork - which is always so different and unexpected. Great art.
