29 Faces Day five

This is a piece inspired by my trip to Italy earlier in the year. I visited Florence and was amazed to find this giant statue!
It was in Boboli gardens set in the grounds of the Pitti palace and is by Igor Mitora

This is me beside it to give you a sense of scale!

It has such a strong powerful presence i thought i'd give it a little softness and some pink stencilled flowers. Not sure if it works, but I can always do another version!

  1. Love the colours and the contrast between the flowers and the cracked statue face work really well

  2. Nice work...oh how I would love to visit Florence and see that statue. "Power presence" is probably a perfect description of it I am guessing.

  4. Wonderful photographs, and the last photo (well I can't call it a close-up, I don't think you climbed up there) is amazing with all the cracks and fissures.
Your purple painting captures the enigmatic smile and aura perfectly, which for some reason makes me think of Mona Lisa. All the flowers give it such a happy feeling - lovely flower power.

  6. You painted Him, when He was much younger, still many thousend years old. Cracks are very beautiful. Maybe He dreams from earlier days and remembers love and flowers.

In the picture this statue is huge, very huge. It was wonderful that You could see Him.

  7. i think it works because of the colors you chose. the softness of the pinks balances the craggy face. it would be fun to see other versions that contrast the background and focal image. i will be traveling soon so i hope i can learn to post while i'm away.
