29 faces 12/13

I'm doing a double link up today, firstly to the 29 face challenge and secondly to woyww  (whats on your workdesk wednesday)
.
You may remember my mermaid post a couple of weeks ago I introduced the sweet Co-co mermaid collaged onto a plate. Today let me introduce the Slate sisters!

I found these slate plaques a while back in a large craftstore and have been wondering what to do with them.
They are pre-drilled with two holes so they can be easily hung on the wall.

I attached the mermaids which I made from air drying clay with thick moulding paste and painted them with Acrylics. The shells are real.

This gives you an Idea of scale.

Although their faces are small they hopefully count towards the challenge where I am creating 29 faces in 29 days!

  2. I can't tell you how much I adore the Slate Sisters, especially the one in the first pic (sorry, SS2!). It's her hair that does it for me, I love the swirls and the coppery tresses...just brilliant. You are very talented!

  5. Wow, I didn't expect them to be so tiny. Lots of details for such small ladies :-)

  6. These are so sweet! I love how you have placed the shell in her hand, it looks like a shell clutch bag! The hair is fabulous, what did you use for that?

    1. Thank you! I used ranger liquid pearls for the hair, a super product, I use them a lot.

  13. They should count as two faces! You have created two artworks that are beautiful and practical. I like the rough string you have used, and they look just right to hang in a sea-side cottage (as long as it's not too near the sea just now with all the flooding). They are much smaller than I expected and I don't know how you got so much detail into them. Once again I say, you are so talented in so many ways.
