29 faces Day 2

My second day of the month long challenge is my 'girl with the fan' painted to celebrate Chinese new year.  I found this very cool border on Pixlr, I presume it says Happy New Year... ( My understanding of Chinese is I'm sure you have guessed rather limited) I love oriental Art, all those rich reds and golds. This piece is on watercolour board and is neo-crayon and gouache with a little gold textures paint for her robe. I was inspired by a famous Monet painting La japonaise which shows his wife wearing a beautiful robe celebrating all things oriental.

Thanks to all who popped by yesterday and wished my daughter a happy birthday! ( The handbag cake was very well received and very tasty )

  10. She is wonderful, colorful and mysterious with the far off look in her eyes. What did you use for her eyes and face detailing? Going to the Chinese New Year Dragon Parade has been on my little bucket list for years. Saturday I went early to take photos and watch the parade. I am so glad I did .
