Dragonfly and thistles

As you know I have been sewing lots of thistles recently.

These ones are made from silk, I then glue them onto small wooden panels which I have collaged with papers and textured pastes and glue.

The dragonfly is made from silk too.

I covered the wings with sparkle modpodge glue which stiffened them and meant I could place the dragonfly partially over the edge of the wooden panel.
Finally to finish two little beaded eyes.

Linking up to paint party Friday

  2. Beautiful colours, they glow, and the sparkle on the dragon-fly is gorgeous. I can see that your new sewing machine is getting good use for your artwork, and particularly the lovely thistles. Have a good Easter break.

  5. Lovely depth, colours, sparkle and texture. I was looking at my sewing machine a few minutes ago and was thinking it is time to pull it out and attempt some art. I get so frustrated when the thread breaks and I have to re-thread, so I am hesitant. Hmmm, but now that I see what you do, I may have to challenge myself over the next few days of my holidays to give it a go!

  7. Lovely colours. Your silk dragon fly is beautiful. (Sparkle modpodge? Wow! another thing to add to my list of must haves).
Are you familiar with the work of Jane E Hall. She creates beautiful embroidered butterflies. They are so realistic and I was lucky enough to see her work in person at the Knitting and Stitch Show at Harrogate a couple of years ago.
